Project Paper Birds is now on Instagram!

I wanted to start off by saying that I made this account a little while back to reserve the username. I was told having a separate social media page for films was good practice, and after mulling it over a bit, I agreed. But the reason I’m bringing that up is over the past few days people have already started to follow this account (I’m assuming either from Instagram’s “people you may know” suggestions or from my bio @a.c.brooke) and I just wanted to say that really touched me! I’ll say this time and time again because it never fails to amaze me: I don’t know why anyone takes an interest in my projects but it means the world that people do.

Now to what this page is for (and I’ll probably have to expand on that later since I’m running out of characters), I thought a lot about what I wanted to do with this, and I want to treat this page primarily as an open diary on living with recovered and somatic memories. In conjunction with that, I will also be sharing stuff from and related to the film (excerpts, bts, etc) and resources. I really just want this profile to serve as a permanent online space where people working through trauma can go to feel seen (even after I’ve stopped utilizing it); and I’m lucky that I already have a few people by my side who are going to help make that happen!

I’ve taken a break from editing the film, which proved to be much more emotionally intensive than I ever thought it’d be. But now that I’ve really begun to heal, I’ve found that I can still use my creative instincts to do so, I just have to—at least for a little while—do that in a different way. Thanks again, stay tuned and looking forward to further advocating on this issue.
